Making your choice of secondary school
For students in Government Primary schools looking to enrol in Year 7
The enrolment process follows state-wide Department of Education and Training (DET) guidelines.
Sunbury College holds an Open Night in early May and offers tours of the school at that time. The paperwork, to make your selection of secondary school, is distributed through your child’s primary school.
The primary schools notify Sunbury College of students wishing to attend in Year 7. From there we do a mail out to all parents.
All schools offer a Transition Day normally on the second Tuesday in December. Sunbury College offers additional transition days for students with special needs. Parents can request this through their primary school or direct to the College by contacting our Transition Co-ordinator or Integration Co-ordinator.
A New Parent Information Evening is held on the night of the official Transition Day.Enrolment Enquiry
For students looking to enrol at other year levels or after the official Year 7 enrolment process
Changing schools is quite common and undertaken for varied reasons including: family relocation, changes in family circumstances and curriculum offered at schools. Sometimes, the first school of choice doesn’t quite ‘fit’ and a change is sought to further a student’s wellbeing or academic progress.
If you are seeking to enrol under these circumstances, the process is:
- Contact Sunbury College and request an enrolment interview with the Principal.
- On the day of the interview, bring your child’s academic records and other information that provides a picture of your child’s academic performance and co-curricular activities.
A tour of the College is available upon request and run at certain days and times.Book a College Tour
Acceptance into the College is based on the enrolment discussion, availability of curriculum, DET enrolment guidelines and student and parent understanding and acceptance of the College’s expectations of students.
