Chris joined the Sunbury College team as Assistant Principal at the beginning of 2026. He has held leadership positions in schools across both primary and secondary sectors including his most recent position as Assistant Principal in Melbourne’s inner west. Chris has a passion for embedding vital literacy skills in all students and building the capacity of other teachers and leaders.

Chris is committed to building inclusive learning environments in schools, having led a network of schools in the implementation of Disability Inclusion, and regularly facilitating online courses for teachers and leaders across Victoria to build their inclusive practices. In addition to Assistant Principal roles, Chris has also led a middle sub-school in a secondary setting.

Chris leads the work of the College Wellbeing and Inclusion teams, supports the leadership of the junior sub-school and the primary to secondary transition team at Sunbury College.

When he is away from work, he enjoys spending time with his family (and beloved Miniature Schnauzers), reading, and cycling.

Becky Annetts

Becky has lived in Melbourne since 2010 having emigrated from England, and has been an Assistant Principal at Sunbury College since 2024. With extensive teaching and leadership experience in both England and Australia, she brings a broad international perspective to the College. Becky is a passionate English teacher, and has also taught PE and Media Studies. She has held a variety of roles focussed on student management and wellbeing, literacy leadership, extending high-ability learners, and transition. Whilst in the UK, Becky worked closely with exam boards providing her with a strong understanding of assessment, accountability, and academic standards.

Deeply committed to high-quality teaching and learning, and to fostering student engagement both in and beyond the classroom, Becky is dedicated to building meaningful, trusting, and long-lasting relationships with students, their families, and her colleagues. Through promoting and maintaining high expectations and high levels of support, she ensures all students are challenged in their learning whilst feeling safe, valued, and understood.

Becky leads the work of the College SWPBS team, supports the leadership of the Middle Sub School team, and oversees the support for Early Careers teachers and their mentors.

In her time away from work, she enjoys spending time with her son as he plays soccer and trains in karate, relaxing together at home with a good book, and planning the next trip home to visit family and friends in the UK.

John Lane

John has lived in Sunbury all of his life, attended school at Salesian College and has been a loyal and strong advocate for Sunbury College since he first stepped into the classroom in 2005. He has extensive experience teaching PE and Science, and brings his enthusiasm and excitement for engaging young minds into every classroom. John believes in the importance of combining explicit instruction with active learning to promote curiosity, resilience, and personal growth both in and beyond the classroom.

As a leader, John brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with a strong background in student engagement and wellbeing having led Junior, Middle and Senior sub school teams. Previously an Assistant Careers Leader, he worked closely with students to support them to explore pathways, set goals, and make informed decisions about their future. Known for his high levels of energy, determination and problem solving skills, John is passionate about building strong relationships with staff and students. He leads the school-wide operations, facilities and OHS teams.

Outside of school, John enjoys working on improving his cricket batting average, eliminating the occasional snap hook on the golf course, and spending quality time with his family at the beach. He is also actively involved in coaching junior sports, sharing his love of physical activity and teamwork with the next generation.

Fiona Scott-Young

Fiona has been Assistant Principal at Sunbury College since 2022. She has a strong background in Drama and English teaching, and is known for her engaging teaching practices that inspire creativity, critical thinking, and a genuine love of learning. Fiona brings a student-centred approach to the classroom, balancing high expectations with meaningful relationships to ensure every learner is challenged and supported.

Holding a Masters of School Leadership from the University of Melbourne, Fiona has expertise in literacy leadership, and experience in both the Junior and Senior student engagement and wellbeing teams. She is passionate about designing and implementing a rigorous, inclusive curriculum that promotes deep learning and equips students with the skills they need to succeed. Central to her leadership philosophy is the belief that strong rapport and trust between teachers and students are essential for engagement and achievement.

Fiona is responsible for overseeing the leadership of Teaching, Learning, Curriculum and Assessment at the College, in addition to working alongside the Senior Sub School, and careers and pathways teams.

Beyond the school gates, Fiona can often be found on the sidelines of a netball court supporting her daughter, or cheering enthusiastically from the football pitch sidelines for her son. For moments of peace and renewal, she returns to the beaches of Tasmania, where she grew up, finding relaxation and inspiration in long coastal walks.

Craig O’Bree

Craig has been Principal of Sunbury College since 2022, having first joined the school in 2014. During his time at the College, he has held different leadership positions, including Assistant Principal, and previously Leading Teacher for the Senior Sub School. Prior to joining Sunbury College, Craig also held leadership positions in other schools, and spent time early in his career teaching in the UK. He brings a breadth of experience to his role as Principal.

Craig is deeply committed to ensuring every student who walks through the school gates is supported to reach their full potential. His greatest professional satisfaction comes from seeing students grow – academically, socially, and emotionally – year by year and across their entire school journey. He is passionate about fostering a positive, inclusive school culture where high expectations, strong relationships, and continuous improvement underpin student success.

In his spare time, Craig enjoys starting the day with an early morning run alongside his beloved dog, Kiki, and the benefits of some time to reflect.  Having grown up in country Victoria, he values the open spaces, fresh air, and natural landscape of the Macedon Ranges. As a very successful tennis player in his teenage years, Craig can also be found back on the tennis court serving up an ace or two. He takes great pride in supporting his son as Assistant Coach for a local junior soccer team and celebrating their success. Family time is important to Craig, and he enjoys camping, bush walking, and regular visits to the local swimming pool with his three children.
